Do you have a problem with a poor signal, an unsatisfactory tariff or simply want better conditions? How much will it cost you to switch to another operator, which one should you prefer and what does it all entail? In our article, we'll advise you on the most common procedures and tell you how to do it to keep your phone number.

There could be many reasons why you've decided to switch operator - from poor mobile signal range to annoying dealings. In the Czech Republic, you can choose from three of the most well-known mobile operators as standard. These are Vodafone, O2 and T-Mobile. However, this is far from the only option - there are also virtual mobile operators that often offer even more attractive benefits. Telestica is one of them.

Advantageous tariff - for 3 months free

What do you mean by "virtual mobile operator"? It means that it does not use its own infrastructure, but the network of another operator. In Telestica's case, it is the infrastructure of
T-Mobile.

It offers its customers the opportunity to make calls for free for three months. Just recommend their services to friends - for every new customer you bring in from among your friends and family, you get a free three-month tariff. This means that if you bring in four customers, you won't pay a flat rate for one whole calendar year.

You don't have to worry about hidden charges or commit to anything - your contract is open-ended.

Quick change of operator and early termination of contract

Changing mobile operator has been considerably faster since 1 April - thanks to an amendment to the Electronic Communications Act. Penalties for early termination have been reduced and consumer rights have been strengthened.

Also, transferring a phone number is now a completely routine matter. In the past, you had to terminate your contract with the provider you were going to change and ask them for an "Abandoned Provider Termination Number" (a 14-digit code to port your number). All this usually took 10 to 15 days. Since April, this process only takes anything between 2 and 5 days, and the number transfer is done using the so-called 'Subscriber Verification Code' that you were given when you signed the contract or that your current provider sends you afterwards. This is the only one you need to have available. Otherwise, the new provider will handle the termination for you - you don't have to worry about anything else.

What sanctions are you facing?

If you are about to end your contract early and have received a discount on a phone or other electronic device from your operator, they will probably ask you to pay them back. What about contractual penalties? As a rule, you can either terminate the contract after 3 months and pay nothing, or (if you terminate within 3 months of the contract) pay 1/20 of the remaining flat rate.
