How do you choose the right tariff option for your primary school children or grandparents? You have a range of options - from prepaid cards to flat-rate plans. Which is better for you and why? Find out in our article.

In fact, the criteria for choosing a plan for a schoolchild are not very different from those for an adult. Of course, it depends on the age of the child and what you want to allow him or her.
For a senior citizen, on the other hand, it's a good idea to consider what they will actually use and how tech-savvy they are. Some people are happy with just calling and texting, others have no problem surfing the internet.

Mobile tariff for younger children

There is no clear line on when to get a mobile phone for a child. So the decision is entirely up to you - but if your child is starting school, it's definitely appropriate. Most of his or her classmates will probably already have a phone and, more importantly, you'll get more control. It will be easier to make important arrangements, and your offspring can hardly make excuses for not having a way to let you know.

In this case, prepaid cards are very often chosen - you don't have to worry about your little one spending thousands of crowns on calls abroad. However, the disadvantage of this alternative is that you have to constantly charge the card and calls are often unnecessarily expensive.

A better and more interesting option is the child tariff. Calls to toll-free lines are not possible here at all, and you have to allow your child to roam or call abroad first, otherwise he or she cannot use either. You pay only CZK 100 per month and you can call your child at any time without any problems - Telestica uses the infrastructure of T-Mobile, which boasts excellent coverage throughout the Czech Republic. In addition to free minutes, this tariff offers 50 MB of free data.

What about the tariff for older children and students?

Older children will have slightly more demanding requirements. And not just for their entertainment, they may need mobile data and an internet connection at school too, so they can quickly look up information.

You can add 300MB, 1GB or 2GB of internet to your basic plan. The amount of data can be increased as needed.

A practical solution for seniors

It is usually pointless to spend money on an overpriced package when your grandfather needs nothing more than to call or text you from time to time to see how you are. The senior plan costs 100 CZK per month and, like the child plan, you can't call toll-free information lines or competitions. Your grandfather will have 50 free minutes and 50 MB of free mobile data. Calls and SMS messages on the Telestica network cost CZK 0.50 and to other networks CZK 1.50.

However, if one of your grandparents is a lover of modern technology, wants to search for information on the Internet and be constantly informed, you can add a higher volume of data.
